Wildlife art prints
wildlife photography is considered by many as the most challenging genre of photography. It is not enough to be a technical expert in the mechanics of your camera, and have an artists' eye for composition and colour, you must also have the patience and tracking skills of a hunter in order to capture a wild animal in its natural state. Also, an extensive knowledge and understanding of an animal's behaviour and instincts can help to determine where to find it and accurately predict its actions. An amazing wildlife photograph is usually the result of hours of preparation, study, and the patience and knowledge that it takes to be in the right place at the right time.
There is no such thing as a typical day in the life of a wildlife photographer, as their profession requires them to travel far and wide to seek out their animal muse. The most dramatic of wildlife photos usually capture the subject in some form of action, such as eating, fighting, flying, or running. These types of images require a very fast shutter speed to capture the action without the final photograph turning out blurry. The photographer must have perfect timing to know the right moment to press the shutter button on the camera.
Many magazines, such as National Geographic, Outdoor Photographer Magazine, and Nature's Best Photography Magazine are dedicated to featuring high quality wildlife photographs in their pages. Also, wildlife photography can be enlarged and framed and made into art prints that create a dramatic impression displayed in a home or office setting. Most commonly, these are Giclee Prints, which is a French term meaning spray and refers to the way the image is printed out by a spray of ink in a similar fashion to an inkjet printer. However, these prints are usually on a larger scale (sometimes over a metre wide!) and so the Giclee printer is much larger than your desktop printer. It uses special light-fast ink that will resist fading for up to 25 years, as long as the image is kept out of direct sunlight.
Wildlife art prints appeal to a wide range of people because they often capture awe-inspiring animals in settings or situations that the average viewer would never get a chance to see, such as a close up of a powerful and regal looking Bengal tiger or an eagle dramatically swooping down on its prey. Such an image creates a strong impression on the viewer, and instils a sense of wonder and respect for the natural world.
