Any CA residents have a car licence plate stolen or lost? How much can I expect to pay for a replacement?
Probably best answered by someone in CA if possible.
I saw that my front license plate was missing today. I checked out the CA DMV website, http://www.dmv.ca.gov/vr/fees/duplicate.htm, but am still a little fuzzy on what I need to do. I'm not sure if the plate was stolen or if it fell off the front license plate holder of my car. Don't want to file a police report since I don't even know how long it's been missing, what am I going to say, I don't look at the front of my car that often? I just put my new sticker on the rear plate on Thursday, so I'm pretty sure the front plate was there then, but between Thursday and now, who knows what happened?
According to the website I have to turn in my rear plate with my sticker on it, and then pay for new plates, a new sticker, and a new registration card??? That's over $50!
Does this sound right?
My DMV appointment is this coming Thursday, so let's hope I don't get pulled over before then.
I lost mine in Oregon (and subsequently found them, put them back on and got a ticket) I had to reregister as if I was getting new tags so it was like $50.
