Pembrokeshire Hotels - Delightful Places To Stay Whilst Exploring The County
For the visitor to Wales, Pembrokeshire hotels offer a range of places to stay. Some are small, and managed by their owners, some are large and part of a corporate chain. Town, beach or country there is a hotel to suit every budget. Whichever hotel one chooses, one can be sure of a warm welcome. Most hotels in Pembrokeshire welcome walkers and cyclist as well as those who prefer to travel by car. The majority are three star, or above and some also welcome dogs.
In the north of the county, people usually choose to stay around the population centers of Fishguard/Goodwick, Newport and Crymych. These are good centers for exploring the Gwaun Valley and Preselli Hills There are several hotels in each area.
Around Newport one can choose between the Trewern Arms Hotel, Newport Links Golf Resort, or the Golden Lion Inn. Crymych offers a choice of Ael y Bryn and the Salutation Inn. Over at Fishguard the Ivybridge, the Fishguard Bay Hotel, and the Cartref Hotel all offer the traveller a warm welcome, as does the Ferryboat Inn at Goodwick.
Moving westwards there is the coastal town of St David's, the large towns of Haverfordwest and Milford Haven, as well as many villages with hotel accommodation. In or near Haverfordwest are The Haven Fort hotel, Cuffern Manor Country House, College Guest House Hotel, Wolfscastle Country Hotel, Slebech Park Hotel and Hotel Mariners. St David's boasts Yr Hafan and The Grove, whilst Milford Haven has Bellhaven House Hotel, Beggar's Reach Hotel, the Lord Nelson and the Ferry House inn.
The south of the county is a very popular spot with Pembroke, Pembroke Dock, Saundersfoot, Narberth and Tenby being the most populous areas. Pembroke and Pembroke Dock are so close they can be treated as one, and hotels there are Portclew House, Lamphey Court Hotel, Cleddau Bridge Hotel, Lamphey Hall Hotel, Thorne Island Hotel, The Coach House Hotel, the Lion Hotel and Wheelers Old King's Arms Hotel. Narbeth has the Grove Hotel and Hotel Plas Hyfryd.
Tenby and Saundersfoot are popular beach holiday areas as the beaches here are lovely for children. Saundersfoot has the Woodridge Inn, the Merlewood Hotel, the St. Brides Spa Hotel, the Woodlands Hotel, the Gower Hotel, Cwmwenol Hotel and Bay View hotel. Tenby also has several hotels, including the Begelly Arms Hotel, Elm Grove Country House Hotel, the Albany Hotel, Castle Mead Hotel, the Atlantic Hotel, the Gumfreston Hotel, the Farnham Hotel, the Park Hotel, Fourcroft hotel, Hammonds Park hotel and many others.
Most of the hotels mentioned are independently run and managed by their owners. One is likelier to find a more personal level of service here and a willingness to make adjustments for one. In all likelihood one may find rooms with four poster beds, lounges with open fires or a fascinating history. For instance, Lord Nelson is reputed to have visited the Lord Nelson Hotel in Milford Haven.
Many of them are suitable as wedding venues, such as the Beggar's Reach Hotel and several have award winning restaurants. Some offer access to varied activities. There are also many guest houses in the area that offer facilities equally as good as most hotels.

How do you get a room at a hotel?

For big cities, priceline.com usually works out quite well. You can pick an area of town, the quality of the hotel and make an offer about how much you are willing to pay. It's a bit like an auction... you can get very nice rooms cheap, but if you bid too low, you may not get a room that way. It is helpful to check on biddingfortravel.com to see how much others paid for their rooms via priceline.
If you don't want to do that, you can use kayak.com or expedia.com to search for hotels. The hotels will end up costing more, but you know exactly what hotel you get, and you can usually cancel/change reservations, which priceline does not let you do.
Of, if you have your mind set on a specific hotel, you might as well call them up and check for the rate. You are staying there on a weekend in off-season, so with some luck and skill you might be able to negotiate a very good rate with a nice hotel that caters to business travellers.
Most hotels (or websites) will requite you to have a credit or debit card to guarantee your reservation, and so that they will have no difficulties charging you for "incidentals" like drinks from the mini-bar, or pay-per-view-movies, etc.
