how do i become a home decor desinger (not interior designer) rather one who designs dinnerware,furniture, etc?
What you're looking for is called either furniture design, industrial design, etc.
These are legitimate degrees that can be earned in a four-year arts college, something like RISD or MassArt where there is a broad variety of majors that will give you the best education in industrial design, etc. The only thing is you have to really really want to design some furniture, etc.
I suggest looking up four year art schools such as:
RISD
MICA
MassArt
SAIC
Pratt
Parsons
Godspeed.
