Xerox Phaser 8860MFP – Solid Ink Color Printer
Utilizing the cost effective, and environmentally friendly, technology of solid ink, the Xerox Phaser 8860MFP is a unique color printer that operates at the high speed of a color laser device, with the operating cost of a black and white unit. As one of only three solid ink printing devices currently on the market, the Phaser 8860MFP stands out as one of the most unique multifunctional centers available today, with an advantage set all its own.
As the multifunctional variation of the base model printer, the Xerox Phaser 8860, the Xerox Phaser 8860MFP incorporates copy, scan, and fax abilities into the device's already impressive print hardware. With a print speed of up to 30 pages per minute in both black and white and color, the Phaser competes with both laser and inkjet technology for outright speed, but where it really stands out against the rest is with its blazing fast first page out time.
Due to the nature of solid ink technology, there is a significant warm up time for the Xerox Phaser 8860MFP. However, once warmed up, the device can execute and unrivaled 6 second first page out time that almost no laser printer on the market can compete with. Other advantages to this original technology are overall ink prices, with solid ink refills costing sometimes as little as one fifth the price per page as their color laser counterparts.
The device itself is not exactly inexpensive, but is at least competitive when compared to other, similarly performing laser devices. Though solid ink technology is not suitable for everyone, it is ideal for the business that has its color printer in constant use. This is due to the fact that the waxy ink must first be melted down to liquid form before printing on the page.
Solid ink also has the advertised advantage of being environmentally superior and extremely biodegradable, as its base is most often comprised of vegetable oils and other natural substances. In fact, in the mid nineties, the president of Tektronix, the company that invented the technology, actually ate part of a stick of solid ink, proving, or at least insinuating, that it is completely safe to handle and green friendly.
The Xerox Phaser 8860MFP's print resolution is outstanding, with up to 2400 FinePoint quality. As a copy machine, the unit handles itself well, operating at up to 22 copies per minute in both color and black and white, with a first copy out time as fast as 15 seconds, though copy resolution is restricted to 600 x 600 dots per inch.
A built in duplexor makes double sided printing completely automatic, which can be very useful in increasing efficiency due to a solid paper usage reduction. Other built in features include a 40 GB hard drive, 512 MBs of memory (expandable to 1 GB), an Ethernet card, a USB 2.0 port, and a very fast 750 MHz Power PC processor. With fax and scan features also included in the unit, the Xerox Phaser 8860MFP stands out as the perfect model for those with heavy color print demands.

What looks like a ladybug but only it is solid black all over?
My husband and I were outside when a black bug landed on his hand. It was shaped just like a ladybug no bigger or smaller. Is there such thing as a solid black ladybug?
If it looks like a ladybird beetle...same size and shape..it probably is. They come in different colors. The exception is the cucumber beetle and the mexican bean beetle, but their size is different.......

The beetle family to which they belong, Coccinellidae, means "little sphere". Scientist have logged approximately 4000 species around the world and roughly 350 species in North America. The species can be identified by the patterns and spots on their wing covers or spheres.
Like all beetles, the lady beetles have a life cycle with distinct egg, larval, pupal, and adult stages. It seems to have one generation per year. The adults of the Convergent Lady Beetle will hibernate in places like ground vegetation, buildings and tree trunks. Spring is the time for the adults to leave and start their reproduction mating.
